About The Doctor

Hi, I’m Dr. Anne Marie Marcellino.  Loss of health means different things for different people.  For some us, our health could have been decreased from an early age and for others it may have been later in life and others it may have been chipping away a little at a time until one day you woke up and said, “Oh, I’m just getting old.”

For me, loss of health started as early as childhood.  As a kid, I was a forceps baby.  I had frequent ear infections.  I was always catching a cold.  Always on antibiotics.  By the time I was 16, I had  an ulcer, my hair was falling out and I had severe sciatica down my leg.  It wasn’t until I got a job at a chiropractor’s office at 16 years old that I realized that all of these things that I was doing from a medical point of view were not working for me because my nervous system, brain and spinal cord, was not working correctly.  NOTE:  Most people think chiropractic is just for neck and back issues but that is only a small portion of what we do.  It is for total body wellness.

I chose to get my nervous system checked after working in the chiropractor’s office for a while and seeing a lot of people get healthier with their thyroid issues, blood pressure issues, knee pain, shoulder pain, headaches, migraines, stomach issues, etc.  When the doctor did an examination on me he said, “You were a forceps baby.  Your neck was never the same after that.  You were never aligned properly after that.  Your nervous system is in overdrive and that could be one of the reasons why you weren’t feeling well, you were always tired as a kid and had frequent infections.  By the time you were 12 years old, you started to develop a curve in your spine which is very common in children, scoliosis, and that could be the reason why you are having stomach issues and digestive issues.  The nerves that come out of that area go to your stomach and digestive organs.  When you fell in dance class, you developed sciatica because your hips were not aligned properly.”

After having chiropractic care, I could not believe how well I felt.  I couldn’t believe how my energy had increased.  Everything that I had a symptom of when I was growing up was gone!  That is how I decided to become a chiropractor.

From that point on I was feeling great until I hit my mid 30’s.  I realized I was not feeling as well as I did previously; not bad but not great.  This is when I started to develop thyroid and stomach issues.  Back then, one of my degrees was in nutrition and people would ask me about nutrition and I would just say, “Just get good food in.”  What I learned in school was not correct.  There is so much more in regards to what we are putting into our bodies and the quality of the food we eat as well as things in our environment like chemical exposure.  These are issues that I had to look into for myself.  When I restored my health by addressing my thyroid and intestinal issues, I brought Designed Clinical Nutrition Programs into Alive & Well.

This is how I got on my journey and why I do what I do for you.  If you have questions or concerns, you can always contact the office at (781) 942-7121 and I will be more than happy to talk to you about your health.  Health is a choice.  Choose to be Alive & Well.
